Whether you feel called to write memoir, fiction, poetry, or something in between, the biggest obstacle for many of us is getting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard and simply beginning. In- and out-of-class writing exercises, along with reading and discussing the works of established writers, will set the stage for inspiration, and will help you jump-start (or restart) your writing life!

Opportunity to participate in April reading.

The only way to expand one’s understanding of what poetry actually *is* is not just to read poetry, and write it, but to enter a spirited and creative atmosphere with others.

In class, we read published poems out loud, as well as our own poems, to supportive and curious classmates.

Whether or not you are interested in becoming a “writer” or a “poet,” or have been one for many years, this class keeps you engaged, inspired, and writing. You discover poets that you may not otherwise read and the weekly assignments push you to produce work you would not otherwise produce.

Opportunity to participate in an April reading.
